2020 Supplementary Volunteer Grants recipients announced

201 Victorian volunteer involving organisations will now be able to take the next steps to support the efforts of volunteers, encourage participation in volunteering and re-engage volunteers as the economy re-opens.
Volunteering Victoria announced the worthy recipients of the 2020 Supplementary Volunteer Grants today, which provided a total of $620,500 to local volunteer involving organisations to encourage, support and increase participation in volunteering in Victoria.
The 2020 Supplementary Volunteer Grants are funded by the Australian Government Department of Social Services.
The grants, of between $1000 to $5,000 each, will help organisations re-engage volunteers through a variety of approaches, including purchasing equipment items, transports costs of volunteers with disability, training, background screening checks and other re-engagement activities.
Volunteer involving organisations applying for the grants were required to demonstrate how their proposal would support and benefit the organisation’s volunteers and the work they do for the organisation and broader community.
“We received a total of 1,754 applications, totalling well over $6million in funding,” says Scott Miller, CEO of Volunteering Victoria.
“With over 10,000 volunteers benefitting from these grants, funding can assist organisations transition their volunteer programs back into operation following the disruption caused by COVID, with grants to help re-engage volunteers during these times,” adds Miller.
