2024 Volunteering Awards: Winners announced

Volunteers are the heart of our communities.
Congratulations to the winners of the 2024 Volunteering Awards.

Volunteering Victoria is proud to partner with the Victorian Government to present the 2024 Volunteering Awards, recognising the incredible contributions of volunteers who build stronger, more connected communities.

This year’s outstanding finalists and winners showcase the many ways volunteering has a positive impact on people’s lives, from providing vital support services to creating opportunities for social connection and skill-building.

We thank every volunteer for their ongoing commitment to making Victoria a better place for everyone. Your efforts do not go unnoticed.

Winners of the individual awards are:

  • Volunteer of the Year – Dame Elisabeth Murdoch Award: Cherie McLean
  • Volunteer Commitment Award: Cherie McLean
  • Volunteer Impact Award: Brenton Ponza
  • Volunteer Leadership Award: Arfa Sarfaraz
  • Young Volunteer Award: Tyrese Walsh

Winners of the organisation awards are:

  • Volunteering Excellence – Volunteer Involving Organisation of the Year: Gather My Crew
  • Inclusive Volunteering Award: Special Olympics Melbourne Inner East (MIE)
  • Volunteering Partnerships Award: VicWISE (Australian Working Group for International Student Employability)
  • Volunteering Innovation Award: Gather My Crew
  • Grassroots Volunteering Award: Tribe-Monbulk Youth
