Connecting the community and building a lifetime of opportunity through volunteering

Communities are strengthened by enabling and encouraging the widespread participation of its citizens. People’s sense of belonging and worth grow when they are given plenty of choices and chances to make a difference to the health and vitality of their communities.  

Volunteering is the widespread term for these acts of participating, contributing and giving out of one’s own free will and for no reward or remuneration. 

Volunteers provide free services either informally, as individuals or in groups, or formally, by being part of not-for-profit or community organisations or projects.  

Volunteering Victoria recognises that in some way we are all volunteers and that we permeate all aspects of society through our participation in the life of the communities in which we live and work.  

Volunteering Victoria supports volunteers, volunteer managers and co-ordinators and volunteer-involving not-for-profit and community organisations within Victoria. The information and interaction that one can get from our website is one of the ways we provide this support.
