Volunteering Victoria is the peak body for volunteering in Victoria. Position Purpose

The Community Engagement Coordinator – South Gippsland &/or Latrobe Valley  is responsible for supporting the delivery of Volunteering Victoria’s VSO operations, which aim to enable and maximise volunteer participation and effectiveness in South Gippsland and Bass Coast (1 day a week) in addition Latrobe Valley and Baw Baw (2 days a week).

Position Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation of Volunteering Victoria’s VSO annual activity plan in Gippsland, consistent with the requirements of the DSS grant agreement
  • Proactively engage with VIOs to identify their volunteer workforce challenges and requirements, including training for volunteer managers and the induction of volunteers
  • Provision of information to individuals and their communities about volunteering
  • Provision of support, training and information to their local not-for-profit organisations and community groups in the recruitment and management of volunteers
  • Promotion of volunteering and volunteering opportunities
  • Support the DSS grant agreement requirements by compiling six monthly reports
  • Develop and manage relationships and/or partnerships with local government authorities (LGAs) and other relevant organisations/networks (such as neighbourhood houses and libraries) in Gippsland to support VSO service delivery
  • Proactively work with other Volunteering Victoria staff to ensure the development and delivery of programs and activities relevant and essential to the purpose of this role
  • Engage and manage volunteers to support the role
  • Adhere to Volunteering Victoria’s policies and processes
  • Other relevant duties as required

Qualifications, Skills & Experience 

Essential

  • Networking and client relationship management skills
  • Knowledge of and experience working across diverse NFP environments
  • Knowledge of volunteering and experience in volunteer coordination / management
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Good working knowledge of MS Office suite of products

Highly Desirable

  • Knowledge of and experience working in a membership association
  • Client relationship management experience
